Honoring First Responders: A Custom Split Wrap for D&L Towing

When D&L Towing approached us about their latest heavy-duty tow rig, they had a vision that went beyond branding and aesthetics. They wanted to create a rolling tribute that honored the men and women who serve their communities every day as firefighters and law enforcement officers. The result would become one of the most meaningful projects we’ve had the opportunity to bring to life.

From the beginning, the goal was clear: create a design that respectfully recognized both professions while still maintaining the bold presence expected from a heavy-duty recovery vehicle.

Two Sides, One Mission

The concept centered around a split-wrap design, with each side of the truck dedicated to a different branch of first responders.

Rather than treating the truck as a single canvas, we approached each side as its own tribute while ensuring the entire vehicle still felt connected as one cohesive build. Every graphic element was custom-designed to reflect the significance of the theme while maintaining visual balance across the massive surface area of the truck.

To further enhance the design, our team incorporated D&L Towing’s signature printed chrome accents throughout the wrap. These elements added depth, contrast, and visual impact while helping tie both sides of the tribute together.

The challenge wasn’t simply creating two impressive designs—it was making them feel like they belonged on the same vehicle.

Bringing The Tribute Together

One of the standout features of the build was a custom dedication window located on the rear of the truck. This element served as the visual bridge between the two themes, helping unify the overall message while creating a focal point that reinforces the purpose behind the project.

It’s often the smaller details that give a design its emotional impact, and this piece played a major role in bringing the entire concept together.

On heavy-duty wreckers, it’s easy for the boom assembly to feel disconnected from the rest of the design.

For this project, we wanted every part of the truck to contribute to the overall theme. Rather than leaving the boom as a standard piece of equipment, our team wrapped and integrated it directly into the design. This ensured the graphics flowed throughout the entire vehicle, creating a finished appearance from every angle.

The result is a truck that feels complete from bumper to boom, with every component contributing to the story being told.
